Stem Cell-Derived IV Treatment SkinZone Laser & Cosmetic Surgery Dr. Hannah Vu

Stem cell-derived IV (intravenous) treatment is a type of regenerative medicine that can alleviate the symptoms of many conditions, including joint problems, neurological disorders, autoimmune conditions, cardiovascular diseases, and other chronic pain conditions. With this treatment, clinicians administer stem cells directly into the bloodstream, where they move easily throughout the body to target areas of inflammation and injury. Within the human body, stem cells develop, or differentiate, into several kinds of cells, repairing and regenerating damaged tissues. These vital cells are biologically compatible, offering patients an all-natural method of relieving their symptoms and reaping the transformative effects.

If you would like to learn more about the cutting-edge research behind stem cells, book your appointment at SkinZone Laser & Cosmetic Surgery in Alhambra by calling (626) 329-4555 or reach out to our Santa Ana location at (714) 361-1555. Alternatively, you can inquire with our online contact form, and we can help you set up a consultation with Dr. Hannah Vu. Dr. Vu will give you a thorough, in-depth review of what the IV stem cell treatment entails and how you can benefit from its regenerative properties.

What Are Stem Cells?

Stem cells can produce several types of tissue through the process of differentiation. As these cells differentiate into various types, they directly repair damage to the area and boost healing processes. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are especially versatile and specialize into connective tissues like cartilage, tendons, and ligaments. They not only can trigger the regeneration from injury and/or degenerative disease, but they can also increase blood flow to the area with a process called angiogenesis.

With angiogenesis, administered stem cells provoke the body to form new blood vessels and allow nutrients to enter into damaged spaces. (1) MSCs have also been known to produce molecules that regulate inflammation, giving the body the physiological tools it needs to heal. Another popular type to mention is hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), which only specialize in generating blood cells. Though these cells may not seem helpful, they can further assist by creating immune cells that fight against abnormal inflammation. (2) As a result, HSCs can even relieve the associated pain and discomfort in the joint or injured area. At SkinZone, we utilize ethically donated allograft stem cells derived treatment, meaning that they come from viable human sources. This allows patients to have a much more comfortable experience that does not involve stem cell harvesting procedures.

IV Infusion of Stem Cell-Derived Treatment

Administering stem cells derived solution directly into the bloodstream intravenously can give patients the same health benefits as standard injections, but with the benefit of attaining full-body relief. With stem cell injections, clinicians are limited to treating a highly localized damaged area, reducing the full potential that this type of regenerative medicine has to offer. On the other hand, stem cell infusion gives patients the full advantage of reducing inflammation in several areas at once, so clinicians can treat damaged tissues and adjacent areas for a more comprehensive treatment.

After all, many painful conditions are not typically centered within one spot, but several areas can contribute to the symptoms of one condition. For example, nerves can send abnormal sensory signals throughout the body, radiating pain to unrelated areas away from the root source of degeneration or injury. That is why Dr. Vu stands by this more efficient means of administering stem cells derived treatment for those seeking long-term relief. Since stem cells are found naturally in the human body, the treatment is extremely safe and biocompatible, and it harmonizes with your physiology. With one simple IV treatment or a series as prescribed by Dr. Vu, stem cells can alleviate symptoms of:

  • Orthopedic conditions. Stem cells intricately regenerate the tissues needed to help the body resolve pain from arthritis and bursitis, as well as repair cartilage, tendons, and ligaments from both chronic and acute injuries.
  • Neurological disorders. Though there is still no known cure for conditions like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, stem cells can differentiate into neural tissue and help support brain functioning.
  • Cardiovascular diseases. Stem cells can promote new cardiac muscle growth and blood vessel repair after cardiac events. They can also serve as a supplemental treatment for many chronic heart/vascular conditions.
  • Autoimmune disorders. With the release of immunomodulatory molecules and the creation of new immune cells, the body can more efficiently control dysfunctions characteristic of autoimmune disorders, a type of disorder in which the immune system works against normal, healthy biological processes.
  • Chronic inflammation. Inflammation leads to all types of pain, including achiness, soreness, burning, stinging, stiffness, and more. Stem cells can help patients regain their quality of life and participate in physical therapy and/or exercise with more comfort.

Ideal Candidates

If you deal with pain or other mobility challenges on a daily basis due to one of the above-mentioned conditions, you may benefit from stem cell-derived IV treatment. Though stem cell infusions can be beneficial for many different conditions, they should not be considered as the primary or sole form of treatment. Rather, you should view these IV infusions as an excellent tool for you to improve your quality of life and/or participate in physical therapy if prescribed by your provider. These cells can assist with helping you heal faster from injuries and mitigate symptoms that make movement difficult in the gym and/or during your everyday activities.

Personal Consultation

Stem Cell-Derived IV Treatment SkinZone Laser & Cosmetic Surgery Dr. Hannah Vu

During your consultation at SkinZone, Dr. Vu will review your medical history, the extent of your condition, and other important factors to give you an in-depth idea of what to expect from your treatment. As a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, she has vast knowledge to help you treat the inflammatory root causes of your pain, helping you to become your most capable self. During this first meeting with her, she will be able to answer any questions you may have about the nature of your condition and how stem cells will work within your body. She will also outline how this minor procedure will go and what you can do to maximize the benefits of your treatment. She will give you more information on a personalized treatment plan to give you an idea of the commitment required for the most transformative effects.

To begin your stem cell journey today, call the SkinZone location in Alhambra at (626) 329-4555 or our office in Santa Ana at (714) 361-1555. You can also request your appointment online, and a member of Dr. Vu’s staff will get back to you as soon as possible.

Procedure Steps

To begin the treatment, Dr. Vu will set up a peripheral IV catheter just above the forearm, within the crease of the elbow. With a small tube called an angiocath, she will gain access to a vein in this part of the arm. She will then begin to administer the stem cell gradually, allowing it to enter intravenously at a slow pace. Once the stem cell derived treatment is fully administered, your treatment will be complete, and you will be able to return home without needing any further monitoring. The stem cell derived treatment will begin to travel throughout the body via the bloodstream and hone in on localized areas of inflammation and damage.

After Treatment

You will likely only need one treatment session to notice significant improvements in your condition, but it will take a few weeks for the influx of stem cells to fully take action within your physiology. You may require a treatment series, but you will have to speak with Dr. Vu on her recommendations. Regardless of your area of concern, an infusion of stem cells can make work, exercise, and daily activities much easier to get through.

The purpose of stem cells is to treat the root cause of the health condition, not simply mask it with pain medications. This minimally invasive approach can become the optimal complementary treatment for the other protocols you may require to treat your particular condition. As your body’s tissues continue to repair themselves, you should check in with your primary care physician to find out if there is any other testing or therapies you should be implementing in addition to stem cell infusions.
