Rhinoplasty, or nose surgery, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is performed to improve the appearance of the nose.
Many people, both men and women, are self-conscious about the nose they were born with–or become self-conscious of their noses after an injury or trauma. Rhinoplasty is performed to improve a number of aesthetic issues such as bumps and indentations, tip of nose issues (too wide, too narrow, too upturned, too downturned), or the nostrils being too wide or uneven.
Rhinoplasty is performed usually through either an open or closed technique–meaning the incision is placed either inside the nose (closed) or outside the nose on the strip between the nostrils (open). Sometimes functional issues inside the nose may also be address when there is an obstruction in the airway of the nose.
